That combined with the statement that no one questions things anymore initially lead me to believe this comic would be about people blindly trusting biased news sources, but then it went on to portray the news article as something that should be listened to. Immediately after that, I was mislead again, as the statement changed from “no one questions things anymore” to simply “no one questions things.” Combined with the stamping out of the newspaper, it gave the impression of stamping out the original statement with a correction. But then it made the true message obvious: that we’re too complacent in our technology to question things. But is that really the message that needs to be told? Indeed it seems from the comments that people are taking this message and … not questioning it. Indeed how is technology making us not question things? It’s making us lazy and complacent, sure, but unquestioning? That’s not technology’s fault. The two messages I thought it would say have more to tell us. The latter one is a message that despite what people (and even the “true” message of this comic) may say the problem of people not questioning things is by no means new, and the former, more than just a commentary on newas stations, deals with the heart of the problem: People don’t question things. It’s a message for you to try to rise above that and think critically about what you hear from any source (which is interestingly enough the point of the previous comic). But ok, fine, take your daily dose of “technology is evil and ruining society;” I’ll just be sitting here, on my computer, questioning that sentiment.

The position may, in the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; but we who know the work which the fireman has to do believe that his is a noble calling. Our proudest moment is to save lives.
